One swab post-clean verification using FLASH Protein swabs offers piece of mind for your manufacturing facilities

FLASH Protein swabs offer a rapid solution for food and beverage manufacturers looking to validate their cleaning. This simple tool detects protein residues left on contact surfaces after by offering a visual colour change if proteins are present. Protein can be a difficult residue to remove and as most allergens are proteins, rapid verification of surfaces help minimize the risk of cross-contamination to allergen-free products.

Product specifications:

Store at room temperature between +2°C to 30°C prior to use and protect from light exposure.

General directions for use:

  • Remove cap and withdraw swab from outer tubing. Do not touch swab tip.
  • Thoroughly swab a standard 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) area for a flat surface. For irregularly shaped surfaces, ensure swabbing technique remains consistent each time you swab.
  • Reinsert the swab into the collection tube using a twisting motion to ensure it is sealed.
  • Activate the swab pushing the plunger down until fully depressed and buffer liquid is visible in the swab shaft. Shake for 5 seconds.
  • Leave at Room temperature, in a stable upright position

Incubation times:

Incubate at room temperature for 10 minutes post-swabbing.

Result Interpretation:

FLASH detects proteins down to 20µg Limit of Detection (LOD); results are read by a visual colour change to the swab buffer.

GREEN:

Pass result. No further action is required.

GRAY/CLEAR:

Warning range. Trace amounts of protein detected. Reclean and re-test in accordance with internal procedures.

PURPLE:

Protein is present. Re-clean and re-test.
